Fresh microgreens from a closed plant factory
Our story
Dr.Sprouts & Microgreens began in 2017 inside a university, with two founders who wanted Thai people to eat fresh, safe superfood. One turned to studying food and health seriously after losing his mother to lung cancer; the other, Dr. Nuttachai, is a researcher with a PhD from Japan who had spent years studying superfoods in a university lab.
We adapted Japanese sprout-growing know-how to a Plant Factory with Artificial Light — a closed room where light, temperature, humidity and CO₂ are all controlled. After many failed batches we found the way to grow microgreens that are strong and nutrient-dense without any chemicals.
Today our microgreens are on the shelves of Gourmet Market, Tops and UFM Fuji and in the kitchens of Japanese restaurants across Bangkok. The business is operated by EXTICO (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

What is a microgreen?
A microgreen is the seedling of a vegetable or herb, cut at 7–14 days once the first leaves open. At that age the plant is packed with the nutrients it needs to grow. A US Department of Agriculture study of 25 microgreens (Xiao et al., 2012, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry) found most carried higher concentrations of vitamins C, E, K and beta-carotene than the mature vegetable.
